Randall Lee NunnenkampThank you for visiting us. The Randall Lee Nunnenkamp Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2006 in honor of Detective Randall Lee Nunnenkamp who dedicated his life to protecting physically and sexually abused and neglected children.  Read more about his inspirational career on Randy's Story page.

Providing Scholarships to Washington County Foster Care Recipients

The Foundation was established to assist young adults in their vocational and educational pursuits to become economically self-sustaining. As an extension of Randy’s life mission, the Foundation recognizes that foster care recipients, both current and former, lack the ongoing family and social support structures, and hence financial resources, vital to assisting them in their transition to adult economic responsibilities. The Foundation is a 501(c) 3  charitable organization. It consists of a volunteer board under the leadership of its founding member, Mary Nunnenkamp. For a listing of current board members, please see the Board of Directors page. The Board and its subcommittees meet monthly and you are invited to check our web page for updates.

Scholarship Award Process

Washington County foster care recipients, both current and former, between the ages of 16 and 21 seeking financial assistance in pursuit of their educational or vocational goals will be required to complete a scholarship application. The application may be downloaded from this site, and mailed to the Foundation. Please see our Scholarship Application page for further instructions. Scholarship awards will be based on available Foundation resources, financial needs of the applicant, and the number of awardees the Foundation can assist in a meaningful manner. The board anticipates granting awards each Spring. Applicants with clearly identified goals are encouraged to apply for assistance in preparation of an upcoming academic / vocational training expense.

RLN Foundation Service Awards:

As part of the RLN Foundation’s mission to facilitate community-based support for foster care recipients, the Foundation desires to publicly acknowledge and celebrate those who devote their professional and/or personal lives to assisting foster care recipients. Therefore, on a yearly basis the Foundation will honor the contributions of various community members through the Randall Lee Nunnenkamp Award of Excellence.  This award will be presented to individuals that demonstrate exemplary service and dedication to protecting children.  Among other possible recipients, the Foundation may specifically recognize CARES NW staff and volunteers and Washington County Department of Human Services, Child Welfare staff and volunteers.Thank you for visiting the Randall Lee Nunnenkamp Scholarship Foundation site.  Should you have questions that remain unanswered, please feel free to contact the Foundation at any time.
